Call LTA works!

listening to lily allen's 'Smile'...

Zappy ran out of petrol in the CTE tunnel last Friday.

I was on the extreme right lane, cruising at the maximum speed allowed when he hiccupped twice.

I glanced at the fuel gauge.
Empty.
I was sick and my car just died on me.
I must have finished my good karma and the whole of my reserve tank.
Shit.

Despite my frantic stomping on the accelerator, Zappy started slowing down, totally disregarding his master aka me, and the tailgaters behind him. I switched on the hazard lights and manoeuvered Zaps to the road shoulder. A frigging difficult task when the oncoming traffic wasn't friendly, and your car was moving pretty much like a slug.

Called W.

Kay: ARGH!!! What should I do if I run out of petrol?
W: Go to the nearest petrol kiosk and get a can of petrol to fill your tank.
Kay: Where??? I'm stuck in the bloody CTE tunnel!
W: Oh. Ask someone to bring the petrol to you.
Kay: 4ish in the afternoon!!! Who on earth knocks off at this time, except me?!?!
W: Don't worry Kay, we have a lot of friends.
Kay: Hmm... true. Alright, bye!

After ending the conversation, I felt calmer but I didn't want to call any of my friends. I hate troubling people. I don't like to rely. Call dad? Bad idea. I'd be nagged to death by Mom. How???

Then, the sign flashed before my eyes.
1800-CALL-LTA.
So I did.

The tow truck came, and I was saved.
Not only was the towing service free of charge, the two nice gentlemen even sent me to the nearest pump station instead of the designated carpark. I didn't even have to ask someone to bring me the petrol. :)

"Remember to fill up your tank next time," my saviours advised before they left for another rescue assignment. Which I heeded. Full tank for Zappy please.

Apparently I still had some good karma credits left.

:( I know! I'm feeling so guilty now. Have been neglecting him. Bad Kay!

Yes yes! Towing is free, but I think they'll only do it for removal from highways and tunnels. Thereafter, you still need your own towing services to bring the vehicle to the workshop.
