This year, we get two for the price of one.
The dong-dong-chiang Lunar New Year 初一 meets the westernized Valentine's Day on 14 Feb 2010. We bugged Dad to give flowers to Mom, and he actually went out to buy some. Sounds romantic right? Except he came back with kai-lan flowers 芥蓝花, which we brought over to Gramma's place to fry with mushrooms for 初一 dinner. Ah well, at least Dad was innovative enough to present the vegetable to Mom in a vase. Practicality and corny jokes rule the Heng household.
