The small brunch session at Brown Sugar evolved into a semi huge gathering. Lots of updating and good natured teasing. Maybe we'll finally get a council couple afterall!


Food at Brown Sugar was pretty much thumbs-up quality.
The lobster bisque made Kay very happy. It was thick and creamy, not clotty like how ang-moh kind of soups can turn out. My only complaint was the size of its serving. I would have licked my bowl to savour each drop of the crustacean sweetness, but was afraid I'd look dumb with my face buried in the crockery. The accompanying prawn ravioli was nice and firm even after sitting in the bisque for more than five minutes.


The crabmeat linguine was better than the one I had on Friday. The chef here was rather generous and I could taste crab shreds with every bite I took. The tangy sourish taste of the tomato sauce whetted my appetite, and I cleaned up the entire plate. Carbo OD!!!

I've never been a big fan of dates. The fruit. Dates with witty cute men are a different matter. Anyway, back to the fruit. Some dates are nauseatingly sweet and irritatingly sticky, while the chinese kind reminds me of Mum's herbal chicken soup. However, I highly recommend the sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Maybe still slightly too sweet, nonetheless seriously yummy. My eyes lit up when I scooped the moist pudding into my mouth.

'OMG! It's good!' I whispered in awe.
'OMG! Ya... ' JH echoed from across the table. He had sparkling eyes as well.

Thank you Ms Chong for organising this successful lunch! You may now pass the baton and assign the holy task to the next deserving candidate.
